Ingredients

2 Cups Flour All-purpose, regular flour is fine.
1 Cup Butter, Clarified
1 Cup Confectioner's (Powdered) Sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
½ Cup Almonds You may also use shelled pistachios or pine nuts for the garnish

Ghorayeba, which are Egyptian butter cookies and sometimes referred to as “sand biscuits,” are some of the most popular desserts in the entire Middle East.

Preheat oven to 205°C (400°F).
Beat the clarified butter for 4 minutes or until you get a fluffy mixture.
Throw in sugar to it and keep beating for 3 more minutes.

Add the vanilla and gradually the flour.
Mix to form dough. Once the dough has been kneaded well, put it in the fridge for 10 minutes.
Now place the dough onto a plain surface and cut into rounds using a cookie cutter.

Place almond halves on the middle of each cookie.
Place them onto a baking tray and bake for about 15 minutes.
